This piece was commisioned by a chamber-trio in northern Norway (that came with their desired title) and the commision came during a somewhat difficult period when I had bought a house that had to be completely rebuilt. So I worked 14 hours a day with construction-work and had to take the evenings/nights to help to compose. Therefore, I had to compose mostly without a piano, which was new to me at the time. It gave impetus to a different way of thinking that I probably would not have chosen if I went in the usual direction. So what I thought was a handicap was actually a help to open a new door.
